I've been hard at work trying to breathe a bit more life into my blog. A bit more "me", if you will. In my own head, it has jokingly become known as Project Angelfire. As no matter what I do, it always seems to end up looking like an Angelfire domain from the early noughties. Click here if you want to see what I mean! After several evenings of trying to break the Angelfire curse, I just thought screw it. I'll own it. I therefore put all my efforts into creating a banner I like, a colour scheme I like and a background image that wasn't generic to Blogger, whether it turned out to be "Angelfire" or not.
If you're reading this, you can already see what I've come up with. It's not perfect, but it definitely feels more me and that was the ultimate goal. I'll still be working on it and tweaking it from time to time. Maybe even overhaul it again at some point. But for now, it is what it is and I have to say, I'm proud of it. That's not because it's in a colour scheme or layout I enjoy (don't get me wrong, I like both the colour scheme and layout). It's actually because of the 2 pieces of artwork I completed for it; my new profile / banner picture and my background image. I thought I'd include them in this post for extra close up viewing (showing off?), particularly as if you're on a small screen or mobile, chances are you won't be able to see the background image at all.
The first is a sketch that started out as me being bored and doodling on my iPad. Whenever I'm bored or needing to release a bit of creative energy I draw faces. They're always female and always from the same angle. Amusingly, the sketch itself isn't that great, but I thought that would make it a great candidate for a bit of manipulation of the photoshop kind. After playing around with it, I think it's ended up looking rather lovely.
|In case you're wondering, this was a study image |
of my resting face when I'm browsing the internet.
I look like a cynical cow it turns out!
The second is my profile picture and banner image, which is a photo manipulation of the same image of my wonderful face, edited in 2 different ways and then layered. It's the first full on photo manipulation I've done in a while and I'm super thrilled how it turned out.
Let me know what you think of the makeover, love or hate. Preferably love! Hate gets you on what's affectionately called the HAET list. *dramatic music*
