Geek - R is a Wizard!

A mere 7 days ago, I published this post.  In it, I mentioned what has become my life goal in World of Warcraft; the acquisition of the Ashes of Al'ar mount.  I have killed Kael'Thas Sunstrider at least twice every week for 4 years, trying to convince him that he should give this mount to me.  When I wrote the post, I was under the assumption that it would be at least another 4 years before the damn thing would drop.

Then, 2 nights ago, R looked over my shoulder and told me that the Kael take down I was working on would drop the mount.  Of course, I laughed.  But R guaranteed it.  Confident, he watched as I killed the boss and then, after hundreds of attempts, this happened...

I don't think I have gurned in happiness over anything else quite so much in my World of Warcraft history.  The thing finally dropped! I can probably demonstrate my squee-ness via this tweet that I sent in game just as it happened:

I appreciate, this may seem insignificant in the grand scheme of things.  But this mount had become a matter of principle.  Kael'Thas was going to give me his mount, not matter how long it took.  Not just that though, I'd had a bit of a demoralising day and this just really felt like karma was on my side for a little bit.

But R's powers didn't stop there.  Yesterday, he went and killed Kael'Thas Sunstrider after an evening where rare pets kept dropping for him.  We were teasing him about being a luck god.  Then, lo and behold, Kael'Thas dropped the Ashes of Al'ar again!

Absolutely, crazy.  I have a wizard for a husband.

Now all that's left is to get J his Ashes of Al'ar.  He's been with me every time I've attempted to get that mount.  Dear god, I hope that doesn't take another 4 years though...!
